Panther blood panel results

My last panther, Thaxter, had three blood tests in his life, at various vet visits. I have seen very little chameleon blood panel data, finally got copies of Thaxter's from the vet, and am posting them in case they should be of any use or interest to anybody. A lot of this probably won't mean much to anyone but vets.

First panel, 21 months old. Vet considered him healthy; told me to cut back on supplementation.

2nd panel; 4th birthday. Looked good on physical exam; vet diagnosed possible early kidney degradation on basis of calcium/phosphorus ratio; began oral liquid calcium supplementation (NeoCal 0.3 cc daily). Following this blood test, the vet said "These guys always have sky-high cholesterol. We always see that in chameleons. It doesn't seem to be a problem."

Third panel, 57 months. Turned out to be the day of Thaxter's death (later in the day, after we returned from the vet); we did not suspect that at the time. Death was from infection (diagnosed in the office from a stomach swab, following gagging during office visit; confirmed by necropsy). Blood panel results showed better calcium but elevated phosphorus, which we were planning on treating with aluminum hydroxide. Necropsy results confirmed the vet's suspicion of kidney damage/disease.

Very useful post, thank you. Although, I must say seeing that thread title next to your name this early in the morning 'bout gave me a dang heart attack! How's Lloyd doing? I saw one of their brothers the other day that had a lot of reddish-purple barring coming in. Much more than the one male I've kept for myself so far! I was kinda thinking about stealing him back.

Sorry for the near heart attack, Kent! Lloyd's doing fine. He's not growing as quickly as I would like, but he's eating (very furtively; he won't do a thing if he thinks I'm watching - unless he's outside and can wild-catch it) and he's defecating daily with beautiful white urates. We've barely had weather in the seventies since he arrived, and I'm expecting him to take off once it warms up. I think he's got a little more blue to his background, but he varies so much I'm not positive yet.
