So I finished my Pfefferi painting today and a Cristatus earlier in the week.
I saw Joel's post and I was inspired by the amazing Pfefferi - I hadn't seen them before and they were so amazing- all the colours of the rainbow on one tiny little body, I've dearly loved the prehistoric/dinosaur looking Cristatus - just drawn to those turquoise scales that really pop next to the browns- and the pygmys - well I do have them and these are two of mine- Until we get more CBB here I'll have to wait for those other species for my collection and make do with painting them. A zoo on paper i guess.
For those who are interested these are all acrylic- The Pfefferi especially had every- i mean every! scale painted- and believe me it's no random pattern when you look carefully- every part of the body has particular scale patterns which I find fascinating, each scale painted in white then acrylic transparent glazes over that to give the colours. Seeing them I couldn't resist such a glazing opportunity! Sorry they have a slight sheen- acrylics- so I think I'll matt varnish them soon.
Hope you like them!
