Paint, Sealers, and other chemical related questions.

Building a new cage out of wood and want it to look like a nice piece of furniture when I'm done with it. I'm also going to make a fake rockwall out of foam insulation, but don't know what to, or not to use. I was looking at some tutorials for DIY aquarium furniture, can I assume that if it's safe for fish / water exposure, it would be mould free and safe for my chameleon?

I want to paint and seal up everything, but I don't want to use anything that would harm my chameleon.

Any suggestions would be great :)

Stick with water based sealers/paints that are safe for infants, let them cure thoroughly before using them (you shouldn't be able to smell it) and you should be OK. Just be aware that you may need to re-do the finish occasionally especially where the wood stays moist.

I found some outdoor lacquer that comes in aerosol application. On the can it says "non-toxic and hypoallergenic when dry". I'm also going to use aquarium silicone to water proof all the seams.
