Over watering

Hey guys. I have a live ficus plant in my cage, with the dripper and the misting system going, the soil is always wet. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do or use to cover the soil so it dries. It is always wet, and I don't want it causing problems for my cham. Thanks

Hi
In my reading's in the forums I have learned that if your enclosure is to wet then your misting times maybe to long or to close together or both
try every two hours for 15-20 sec. If you can set your mister that way. Its very touch and go success by trial and error everyones enclosure will be diffrent. What you want is for the enclosure to dry out mostly before the next cycle starts. Play withwith your settings to find that perfect setup for your chameleon. And dont let it spray at night they need there rest. mine is set up to go off an hour after lights on about 7:30am then his last spray is an hour before ligbts out at 9:00 pm and it seems to work fine for Sven.
Hope this helped out a little.

Id try removing some (2-3") of the bottom soil and replace it with sand or rocks. It should make the dirt drier since it wont be sitting in water at the bottom of the pot, wicking it up.
