Over heated

Hey guys, so I my 4 1/2 month panther was sun bathing for like 7 minutes and all of the sudden he turned white and was almost falling off of his leaf, so I quickly got him into his cage and turned off both of his light. He was opening up his mouth briefly. He seems okay except he feels a bit cold to the touch and is really slow. Is there anything that I should do for him to help? Thanks!!!!!

Well where do you live?? I live in Florida and it is not really hot enough for chameleons to overheat outdoors right now. I am not sure what went on with your chameleon.

my panther about 4 months old did that just yesterday. it was about 86 outside and I had him on a umbrella plant half in the sun, half in the shade. he was in the sun for a bit started to open his mouth, then moved into the shade spot.

Im no pro, but just keep an eye on him, try giving him some extra water today to make sure he is staying hydrated. but chameleons I've heard open their mouths to help regulate body temps. I don't think i'd worry to much. every time my cham comes out of the cage he turns a nice white'ish color. with some panther colors mixed in.

I live in Northern Nevada, it was only about 65 outside, that's why I had him just inside the door with the door open. I think what happened is it got too hot being near the glass side of the slider. I think he is okay, I just wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could for him.

Thank you, that makes me feel better that yours is okay. Hopefully I got him out of the sun in time.
