Over Feeding?

Hey everyone!

Just a quick question- Gilbert (veiled) is approaching 6/7 months and eating around 10 large crickets a day. Is this a healthy amount, or is there even such thing as a "healthy amount"? I recall seeing somewhere that once he's full grown that I should get his feeding schedule down to every other day, is my mind deceiving me or is that actually true? Given how much he eats now I find that hard to believe.. Thank you for any and all help, even though it's been a great four months so far, I find I'm still learning and thinking up new questions for caring for Gil everyday :D

The general rule of thumb is to give them as much as they can eat in a 5 minute span twice a day while he is still growing. 10-12 crickets is perfectly fine, although you should offer Gilbert a variety of feeders and lower his cricket intake by a handful or so. 7-9 months is the age where they are no longer growing as much, therefore, you no longer have to feed them every day as it will just make them fat and possibly lead to health issues. Chameleons will go on a hunger strike for weeks, so don't feed bad if you start feeding him every other day. This will actually benefit him in the long run. :)

Since you're asking feeding questions, why don't you answer the questions in the how to ask for help thread at the top of the health forum so we can see if you are doing everything properly or not?
