I just wanted to get a few opinions from our members in Florida or familiar with the weather here. I live in Miami, and have a really nice lush garden. I'd love to keep my veiled out there(in his enclosure) Any thoughts on this?

My veild lives inside, but my oustalet loves FL weather, and veild and oustalet care is similar. Go for it!

I take him out now for extended periods, I'm wondering if I can leave him out there full time(for the next few months). Lot's of torrential showers in the afternoon here. I'd be at work and unable to move the enclosure during high winds and heavy rains. Just wondering how he'd fair?

Sun is good, but make sure there is always a place inside the cage to hang in the shade and cool off when thing get hot.

Put a few cinderblocks in the bottom of his cage, he'll be fine as long as you bring him in during hurricanes LOL

Recently a friend emailed me about an enclosure that they had that was half outside, half in the garage... mind you he has a ton of money and time for this, but it was a neat idea that I thought I'd share.

Anyways, I'm not an expert on Florida, but I do know it's nice and humid.

My Oustalets live outside-on the lanai-FT (except in very cold weather)-coastal Maddy and coastal FL have similar weather. I do live very close to water and always have a breeze. I also have a WC Nosy that lives out there too. However the Veileds do not do well in the heat of summer. If I lived in central Florida I definitely think it would be too hot unless you had a super auto mister going off throughout the day. I do have a few Veileds living out there right now, but we have not hit June-Aug highs yet.

Yes you can take it outside. In fact you can every once in awhile.

There are some wild Veileds thriving in South Florida, so we can assume that your Chameleon will do fine outside. Just make sure that at least part of his cage is always shaded and the cage is very secure. South Florida also has a lot of preditors too, both native (hawks, egrets, snakes) and non native (boas, monitors).

Yeh, I read about a wild Veiled Chameleon population here in Florida.(let me see if I can find the link again) that's what kind of got me started on the subject in the first place. I figure that Miami may be a bit more Humid than Yemen though. But according to this study, they are doing very well for themselves. Gonna clear a spot in the garden today and leave him out for the day and night, see how he does!
