Hi everyone. I bought a screened cage to use outside in the summer. I have got lots of sticks/branches (cleaned and dried well) and some flower vines to provide some shade. Unfortunately, they are silk. I can't find plastic anywhere. So the silk ones are temporary and I'll toss them when they get dirty. Fortunately they only cost $1.69 so I got a couple! Love sales.
I have never had an outside cage so wondering what I need for it. I made a dripper out of an old milk jug which worked great. Them temps outside here (East Tennessee) are between 80-95 degrees pretty steadily during the day. I won't leave him out at night. His cage is set up on our porch so there is a roof above. Most of the day the porch is not in the direct sun light but it does get some in the morning and a lot on the late afternoon. Does he need to have direct sun light for the UV or will he get enough just being outside? Do I need a heat source out there too or do you think it's warm enough? Anything else? Oh, it's been quite humid here too. Around 60-90% lately. I took him out there a couple days ago and he seem nervouse for the first half hour then explored some. Once the sun hit the porch he sat in the dirct sun light for a while. He was near the bottom half of the cage and I got concerened he would over heat so I brought him inside because the entire porch is in the direct sun light at this time and I didn't think there was enough shade for him. I might be worrying too much but as some of you may know, George was very sick for the first couple weeks I had him. He's doing so well and I want to make sure the outside cage is set up correctly. Any ideas and help would be welcome! Thanks!
