If your chameleon is living outdoors and it getting natural UVB all day long then you really do not need to supplement with d3. Most members that keep indoors only supplement twice a month with it. you could still do that, but it really would not even be necessary. I live in FLA and my cham spends a great deal outdoors in the sun. I do not supplement often with d3. You should use a plain calcium without d3 at every or most feedings and also get a multi vitamin to use a couple of times a month also.

What type of bugs are you using, and what do you feed them? You may want to use plain calcium more often.

If your chameleon gets outdoor sunshine regularily, you need not use a d3 product, though a little now and then "just in case" wouldnt hurt. Perhaps once a month or once every couple months.

thanks carol they are all happy and doing well i just dont want that to change and now i have babys to add to the group again. but i was wondering what calcium and multi vitamins u use ?

no need to dust the snails. Black crickets sometimes cause mouth injury - be careful. All crickets must be calcium dusted everytime, lightly. Waxworms are terrible - all fat - dont bother. same goes for pinkies. dubia and silks are good. Dust the roaches unless their diet is high in calcium. caution on the tomato worms in that they shouldnt be eating tomatoe leaves (toxic).

I use rep-cal plain calcium and sticky tongues mineral-al O calcium with minerals. I use rep-cal calcium with D3. I use Rep-cal herptivite.

thank u i will take the wax worms out of there diet and the tomatoe worms are not feeding off of tomato leaves and i was wondering if pepper plants are bad for chams or there food?

thanks G i will not use d3 with them but what about the juvi that i take inside and outside at least 4 times a week?

A little d3 now and then will do no harm, if is a panther or vieled.
Bell peppers can be used as a food source (the fruit more than the leaves) for tomatoe hornworms, as can grape vine leaves..

i also have jacksons and i think there cherry jalapeno or how ever u spell that. i havent used them but i am growing them and find horn worms there from time to time but i dont use them. oh oh and what abot the grubs and cattapilers i find in the back yard ? i do not use pestisides nor do my neighbors!

occasional d3 indoors or out isn't going to bother anything.

The body stops converting sunlight to d3 when it has enough- the only way to overdose is diet. You cannot overdose a cham by adequate d3 in the diet combined with sunlight. It will simply not convert the sunlight when it has enough from the diet.

So, in theory, if you aren't overdosing indoors, you cannot overdose outdoors even if supplementation schedule remains the same.

But, at the same time it is unnecessary outdoors, and as I keep my chams babies to adults outdoors during the summer I do not use d3 during the summer.
