So basically i would like to get a pair (1.1) of ousties. And because there isnt too mich info online, i figured, hey, someone here has to gave SOME knowledge about oustalets chameleons, so here i am. So now i have some questions...
1.) Would a 5 foot long by 3 foot deep by 6 foot high enclosure work for a pair?
2.) Can you keep a 1.1 pair together without issues or are ousties solitary like most chams?
3.) If number 2 is no, would a 2.5 long by 3 deep by 6 tall work for a single oustie?
4.) I have heard their care is pretty similar to panthers, is this correct?

Thank you and sorry for the long post with lots of stuff. :)

A good source if information would be fl Chams. I too have raised oustalets but fl Chams raises/breeds/and sells them :)

Although I don't have a outie cham, their care is similar to Panthers according to the New Chameleon Handbook. :)

A friend of mine has the best luck with them. Breed like rabbits. Hardy. He absolutely loves them. Oh yeah, he owns an insane pet store with ALL kinds of critters. But loves his Oustalets.

It could, but I'd really suggest housing them separately.

Better to house them individually. They'll do better for you.

3.) If number 2 is no, would a 2.5 long by 3 deep by 6 tall work for a single oustie?
Yep!

Darn near identical, if anything, a little hardier. Super cool chams for sure :)

Thanks alot jen. I have found another foot of space also, so in the the near future im thinking a 3 foot tall by 4 foot deep by 6 foot tall is going to be great. Ill keep everyone here posted on progress. Again, thanks to everyone.

I've cared for and bred Oustie's for close to 2 years now. I have found their care requirements to be very similar to Veileds and Panthers. I recommend housing male and female separately. I've know a couple of friends who housed them in pairs without issue, but I haven't done it. Cage sizes you mention would be fine for an adult female or sub-adult male. A large adult male may do ok with plenty of sturdy perches, but may need a little more room at full size, depends on the individual and how he behaves in his enclosure.

I also recommend housing outdoors as long as the weather/climate in your location supports it-

I would love to house them outside but if anyone knows how chicago goes, you see why i cant really do that 60% of the year. And i can probably get a larger enclosure for the male, might take some time. And thanks again.
