Orlando Hardscape Materials

I’m over in Brevard county and I just scavenge my neighbors tree trimmings, which also provides some leaf litter. (Oak trees) I have at times driven around and taken advantage of a downed sycamore in an undeveloped area just off the road. If you happen to chance upon professional tree trimmers at work on a safe tree (nothing with heavy sap or odor) you could stop and ask if you can have some branches. It feels kind of silly, but once you explain to people that you need them for a chameleon/tree lizard, they are usually happy to help.
If you must buy branches, do avoid grapevine and wooden dowels as they do not do well with the moisture and tend to mold.
Try independently owned pet stores for cork bark and possibly driftwood. If all else fails, try Etsy. I’ve gotten fantastic leaf litter, manzanita branches, slate pieces, cholla wood and all sorts of natural things at prices more reasonable than pet stores. eBay may also be an option…I haven’t had to look there.
The only rocks I use are for my leopard geckos and they came from Lowe’s. I have used Great Stuff foam and made my own ‘rocks’ before which don’t look too terrible. (Use them as hides for my geckos)
