Orchid Success and Cham Room Update

Between work and life its been quite a while since I have been able to spend time on the forums, so I made sure to save a little time today to take pictures and post an update thread.

First, the orchid experiment is officially a success, except for a hungry snail that munched on one of the leaves. The bloom picture below was from a new shoot that started growing about a month ago, right after a large new leaf. This is a phaelenopsis orchid and I basically have a mistking nozzle pointed directly at it. I also mist it in the morning, that's all.

The orchid is in Moe's cage. He is a 2.5 year old Nosy Be. He seems to really like sitting next to the flowers.

Malcolm got a shower this morning. He will not poop unless he gets some sun or a warm shower. I consider this etiquette quite gentlemanly, although it is a pain for me. He is an ambilobe, about a 1 year and 8 months. I have had him since he was 3 months.

Samuel L Jackson (we call him Sammy) is a little jackson adopted from Little Leaf's Olive. He is the cutest little guy, but definitely camera shy. Belying his small stature is his huge appetite.

The shyest of them all is my nosy be female, Nelly. Like Sammy, I have to lure her out of her thick foliage with crickets to get a decent shot.

Here is where they all live, and my wintertime jungle escape room!

Awesome setups! Congrats on the success with the orchids. They're beautiful and I'm sure Moe loves them! Malcolm's color's are so bright and beautiful. They all look wonderful. I was waiting on an update for little Sammy! Haha too cute. Thanks for sharing. :D

Beautiful chams, and I love your setup! :) I have a couple orchids in Oscar's cage, I hope they bloom, too.

Your orchids are nice! I have 4 blooming here, in the frigid cold. I haven't tried putting them in cages. I did keep them in terrariums but none are set up now. The orchids are fantastic in the cages.

It's nice to get an update with pictures of your guys. The boys are all looking very handsome and what a little cutie pie Nelly has turned into. :)

What kind of light do you have on that orchid and how often does it get misted a day? Great setup btw!

Thanks for all the kind comments on my chams and cham room. It is a pleasure to go in there every morning and seeing them thriving in the homes :)

l0u1ss - I have a dual 24" T5HO fixture with one 6400k plant light and one arcadia 6% in addition to Moe's basking light (incadescent spotlight). The mistking sprays it directly 4X a day for a total of about 25 minutes.

Orchids make a nice addition. I have tried a few in the cages from time to time. Cane dendrobiums make nice climbing paths.
