I've been doing it for seven years and at some points there was a great deal of pain, but only induced by impatience and stupidity.
If its done right they don't hurt at all!

I've wanted my tongue split for years, if I do get it done only getting a highly trained professional, not risking never being able to taste chocolate or bacon!

Split tongues are great. The only thing is having a scalpel to the tongue with no anesthesia doesn't sound to enticing.
I've looked into it and don't know if I could do it.
I've got piercingly and tattoos, both of which I have on my face and I still don't think I could handle that haha.

They can use scissors too so instead of slowly sawing it's quicker.

A scalpel is necessary. Its also not all that painful of an ordeal.
I dont have mine split, but I have been doing piercings/body modifications for almost ten years. Heres my professional advice on the tongue split:
Do not, go through with it.

I couldn't do it!
And I really didn't take you, actully anyone on the forums, was into body modifications...
..but then again look at me haha.
I'm a big baby though.
I have panic attacks when I get shit and I even hate paper cuts!!!
