Only poops with shower

My veiled chameleon is about 1 year old, he will go about 5 days without pooping . Then I worry about him being constipated, so I give him a shower or I let him get some outside time. After he always poops it is about 5 turds with an inch long urate. I recently read that they can go a week or even two without pooping if they are older is this true even if he eats 8 or 9 crickets a day.

do you have:
-substrate in the cage? (sand, soil, bark, moss)
-if you have live plants, do you cover the soil?
-when are you feeding him, and are the feeders too big for your chameleons size?

It is common for them to go several days when they get older without pooing. But if you'd up his mistings and try using warm water when misting he should start going in his cage. Although some dont like messing inside their cages. As long as he goes when you shower him and his urates are white I wouldnt worry too much. Is he straining to relieve himself. If he is then I would def increase the frequency and amount of mistings each day.

No sub straight but on the live plants I put screen over the bottom today , I feed him about 8 crickets every morning and he used to eat the same size ones with no problem. I mist six times a day with the shortest time being two minutes I bought a water heater that keeps the water around 80 degree , his urate is half white. and today I noticed something hanging out of his rectum but I slid back in , this worried me quite a bit. Any suggestions on misting times and durations?
