Only hand-feeds

I started feeding silkworms to Fuego because he went on a cricket strike. I am breeding silkies, but all the worms are gone and I can't take my eggs out of diapause yet, so I am back to crickets for now. Here is the problem- Fuego won't eat from the cup anymore, he will only eat from my hand.

This is an issue because I have him in 6 foot tall birdcage, so I can't let the crickets free in his enclosure, and crickets are not easy to hold on to for hand feeding. Any suggestions? He has ignored the crickets in his cup for 2 days, but as soon as I hold one he eats it like it's his job!

I remember someone saying they pull the big pair of legs off. I know it sounds cruel but they will be dead within 20 seconds!

My cham stopped eating out of a cup too. But if I put a cricket in the cup and hold the cup for him, he will eat. He will hand feed and FR feed also. And like Carol said, do what works! Of course what works one day, may not work the next! You gotta love chams!

That's my definition of cup feeding :D
They are what we call picky eaters

Ok so I tried that, and it worked! What a brat!! If I just set it down, he won't touch it. So I guess I need to wake up 10 minutes earlier every morning to hold the stupid cup for him? He's becoming VERY high maintenance:rolleyes:

I would do tough love. Put food in the cup and walk away. If he doesn't eat for two weeks then so be it, but eventually he will get hungry enough and stop being lazy. If he's healthy he will be more than fine not eating for a few days, and it'll be better for everyone in the long-run if he can feed himself from a cup.
