Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - A female veiled chameleon I've had since she was just a few weeks old. She is now about four years old.
Handling - I try to take her out to make sure she's in good health at least once a week or so.
Feeding - I feed my cham crix from the local store. I often gutload with a green cricket gutload, but sometimes I'm naughty and just feed the flukers crix feed or the flukers orange cubes. All of these have pretty extensive vitamin content. Rarely ever do I not gutload at all.
Supplements - Ooh, I think the calc powder is flukers brand also. I've used it with this cham and my male who was an adult when I received him who lived 5 years with me. Their bones have always been in good health.
Watering - I drip water from a basic dripper and mist at least once a day. The room she is in also stays very humid.
Do you see your chameleon drinking? All the time. She's got great eating and drinking responses.
Fecal Description - Healthy poops with brown, white and yellow.
Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Unfortunately no, but none are suspected.
History - She's always been in good health. I've never had any problems with her or my male.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Commercial screen cage with fine screening.
Lighting - I use zoomed UVB 5.0 and a heat light of maybe 100w? She seems to enjoy her lighting and basks regularly.
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)?Basking spot is about 83 and the floor of the cage is like 76 or so. I turn them on at sun up and try not to keep the lights on past 9 in the eve. I know that's kinda late.
Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? Lowest overnight is 62. Digital Thermometer.
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? I don't have any way to accurately guage the humidity. The room she is in has a lot of standing water and I mist her very regularly.
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? No I'm not using any live plants. She thrashes them all.
Placement - Where is your cage located? We are currently keeping her in the bathroom actually. It is humid periodically and she gets lots of attention as far as misting, feeding and watering. It also stays more warm than the rest of the apt.
At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? Just at like a bathroom counter level.
Location - Where are you geographically located? Pacific Northwest?
Current Problem - I've had this ongoing problem with Ursela's eyes which is best described as a bead of water on each of her eyes. I've had her for five years and she didn't always have this problem. It started back when I was still living with my parents and she was in a different cage. Her eyes just started getting a little layer of clear goop on them. Then I would spray her down, and sometimes clean her eye with a wet q-tip. Sometimes if her eyes are goopy she can't see her food very well and as soon as I clean her eyes she's happy to hunt again. She's healthy as a horse in every other way, healthy weight, strong bones, healthy appetite, completely mobile and defensive. She just gets icky eyes in her older years. I've been trying to clean and treat her eyes but nothing seems to help. I've considered the cleanliness of her water, but I make her water container out of a recycled milk jug. Because I do it this way, I can have a clean fresh one often without cleaning algae or using any sort of chemicals. I've considered using some kind of eye drops. Perhaps theres some kind of bacteria in her eye or something. Maybe I'm still not misting enough. I spray her directly on the face to make her eyes feel a little better as well as her fake plants. And it's not like this every day, just some days...Any of this sound familiar? Thanks!
