Ok to feed captured fugitive crickets?

I have found a few runaway crickets around the garage and I have been picking them right up and holding them in front of my chameleon to let him eat. Can he be harmed by any dust or anything that the crickets would pick up from being outside of the cricket cage??

Anyone? Anything I can do to clean them off or should I just let them go outside?

this is a really yes and no answer, it would depend on what you have in your house, what the crickets could have been exposed to chemical wise, and what they could have eaten around your house.

if you have anything that is toxic, or toxic plants in the house i'd not feed them to your chameleon because the crickets could have come into contact with these things, or eaten them and will poison your chameleon, not worth it for a few crickets.

i have fed escapee crickets that i have found in the house, and my chameleon has been fine

I used to feed them off as I found them but started to think like you. Now I just toss em back into the main bin and grab a fresh one if i want.

Yeah, Hoj has the right answer...you don't know what they've been eating while they were running around the garage. Better to "recycle" them by putting them back in the bin. They'll clear out anything they've eaten pretty quickly and be good for food soon enough.

We have roaches (occasionally) in our house, here in Florida. My wife is a "RAID" sprayer...always was and always will be (just now, not in the same room as our Cham.

When I find an escaped cricket ANYWHERE in the house, it goes away...not back into the cricket house and NOT into the Cham enclosure.

I don't want to take any chances!
