So this is our first clutch of eggs, we have been reading threads for around year and prepared as much as possible. Made sure we can grow pinheads, we now have a silk worm colony going, roaches too.
We felt ready to give it a go with our beautiful pair of Panthers. So anyways...we are now waiting for our first clutch of eggs to arrive. They mated on 8th March.....we are confident everything is going well.

So we have the cage cover over, the bin is a large bucket, part kids sand, part dirt....planted a plant for her and used a spoon to start a few holes. She is showing no interest in eating and hasn't for a few days now.
Today a peep and she was sat at the top of the cage under her lights...so I took the cover off to spray the cage down, start her water up and see if she wanted to eat.
She refused the cricket...she refused the silk worms (she loves those normally) so I took them away and went to close the cage, she practically ran to me and so I out my arm out and she jumped on :)
Her gravid dark colors changed, still the gravid brown but her pretty pink/orange receptive colors came beaming out where her circle pattern is.

She seemed so happy to be see me and almost like she had missed me. I put her back and really had to make her go back lol. So then while I was picking the cover up to put over her again she went down into the bin. Ive never seen her go into the bin. Just walked around it before.

Strange as she seems to be behaving the opposite to everything we have read. She seems to want to be with us and wants me there at the bin lol.
Since covering her again I haven't been back in the room. Just had to share this with everyone, see what takes we get on it, from other people experiences.....she clearly hasn't read the same information as we have in preparing for this moment lol.

We are so excited, so nervous, scared and concerned all the same time. What a nerve racking experience this waiting game is. Just wish it was over now so we know she is ok...Im not sure we will do it again...Im such a worry pants lol

Don't you know? Chameleons work very hard to keep us confused and nervous!!

I'm sure she will do just fine and soon you will be counting lovely little eggs!

Ha ha ha...this we believe for certain.
She has stayed in the bin and when we last peeked she was digging so we have left her since.
Turned out the lights at normal time. That was or is the hardest part now.
We are thinking, OK so now what? We are always told not to look but then how do you know when she is finished so we can start rehydrating her, topping her calcium up and get some food into her.?

So i guess we will check her tomorrow in the morning. We have had the kids all make guesses on how many eggs she will lay....the winner gets a cadburys cream egg lol. We are thinking it won't be many as she doesn't look to big to us.

Thanks for the words of confidence. We hope you are right and we will soon be nursing her back to full health and counting her precious eggs........happy Easter right?? Lol

They will be the best Easter eggs ever :)

Do you have one of those webcams on a USB cord? When I want to spy on my girls (like right now) I will aim the camera somewhere in her cage and then have it connected to my laptop. Meanwhile the cage is covered up so she can lay in peace, but if you want to watch her all you have to do is look at the screen, not peek into the cage. So there is never a moment where she will see you and get nervous, but you can watch and see what she's doing.

I'm in a similar awkward boat with my female. She was chubby so I was sure she was going to lay. I saw dirt all over her cage floor so I know she dug in her container, and she looked much thinner but you could still see some eggs in her. I dug through the whole container and not a single egg in sight. So I'm waiting to see if she'll lay something else and so far nothing. She is still eating and drinking, so I'm not sure what to think. She may get an x-ray in the coming days if she continues to baffle me.

Good luck with your girlie!

wow...I hope she lays for you and everything goes well, rather than a vet visit. Please keep us informed.

We turned the light off as we normally do but now I am worried what to do next. I will turn her light on as normal but we don't have one of those camera's (guess we wasn't as prepared as we thought)
So I will have to peep in but we are just unsure how you know....reading your response.....I guess we wont really know for sure :(

Waiting till the kids have left for school before I go back in and check. I guess I will report back then.

Good Luck to you and your baby.
