Oh Crap! Cedar is bad for chams?

top of my stand is made of cedar - going to be sealed with polyurethane after I stain or paint it. and then the cages would be on top of that- I wouldn't think it should cause any problem .... but what do I know?

Where did you hear that cedar is bad for chameleons?
Cedar shaving substrate would be bad ... but the top of the stand is fine.

and I would logically tend to believe you are right, in fact that's what I assumed myself, but just wanted to make sure

Cedar has naturally occuring chemicals (that's why bugs dont eat it and it doesnt rot) that I personally think indicate cedar should be avoided in direct contact situations. I wouldnt worry about a stand being made of cedar though!

I Have cedar beds my dogs sleep on and it keeps them smelling good and ticks and fleas hate the smell or taste lol
