Odd white spots

Hello, I'm new to chameleons, and I noticed something odd about my chameleon. He has these weird white spots along his spine and in the crease of his elbow pit that I was worried about. Can anyone tell me what they are?

When was the last he shed?he looks like my guy before he shed.i hope it’s just the camera but he also looks very dark what are his basking temps?

When In the health clinic it always helps to fill this out

• Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
• Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
• Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
• Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
• Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
• Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
• History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

• Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
• Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
• Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
• Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
• Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
• Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
• Location - Where are you geographically located?

• My chameleon (Archie) is a baby veiled, at least 3 months old.
• I handle my chameleon everyday (so far)
• I feed Archie at least once a day, and I’ve fed him 4 house flies now, that’s the only food that sticks out (I also feed him crickets w/ calcium supplement more often than that)
• I use Rep-Cal calcium supplement
• His feces was recently dark brown with an orange thing (I read that’s not good)
• No other interesting history other than the fact that I got him from Petsmart

• Now Glass cage
• Not sure of the brand of the lights, I can’t check right now but I’m pretty sure his basking light is only like 10 watts.
• The humidity in his cage is perfect, I have an aquarium in the bottom, I hope that’s okay.
• All fake plants
• Unfortunately my cage is under an air vent, but it seems to go right over his cage (the temperature in his cage when I’m gone during the day is about 78°F and during the night about 70°F
• North Carolina is where I’m locating, very rural countryside neighborhood.

Now with the watering I have a question as well. I mist the back of his cage, and I try to see him drink (sometimes with succession) but sometimes I don’t catching him drinking it. I try misting his face but he REALLY doesn’t like that, he frantically tries to get away. Any suggestions for what I should do?

Also I haven’t seen him shed since I got him so it might just be that.

How long have you had him?how big is the enclosure?aquarium at the bottom where exactly? are Archie’s plants coming out of the water?
You need to get those temp(at basking) and brands of light it does not seem like he getting enough heat from the picture.Are you sure the air vent is not drying him out?how often do you mist him you could try using warm water and not spray him directly if he comes to you then fine.your orange urates are not good and I’m pretty sure that a 10 Watts is not good enough and is he getting uvb how much a day?

You have alot of tinkering and changing to do other members will reply when they get up and see and give you more tips that I probably missed. take everyone’s advice it’s good and will help you be a better keeper don’t be discourage if you feel someone’s being to critical.(some people do)you got him from pet smart and petsmart has a bad rep for keeping animals so you have to work that much harder with him to make sure he has the very best life seeing how his start was not the best.

He also needs multivitam and calcium wit d3 twice a month misting should be at least 4 times a day or get a mistking starter this member @Brodybreaux25 helped a lot with pictures and links if he see this maybe he will have tips for you.I think you should hit up the care sheets there very informative

I am a new member here but just gonna throw some stuff out here till veteran members start replying, holding you cham actually stresses them out, ive had my baby for about 3 months and have only held her about 3 or 4 times, also you should have a dripper dripping down onto leaves for him to drink, it took me awhile to get it set to a place where she liked it. You should also have a UVB and a UVA bulb and a basking stop reaching into the 80's(gonna let soemome else give you info on an exact basking temp for ur chams age, i dont want to give you wrong info) . Also, they should NEVER eat insects you find in your house or outside it can be harmful to them. I am glad you turned to a forum to resolve some of your issues. Its hard to find valid info in pet stores, especially from petsmart and petco.

• I’ve had him for about a week now
• The enclosure is pretty medium sized (I’ll take a picture when I get home)
• The aquarium is like the bottom 1/3 of the cage (again I’ll take a picture when I get home)
• Yes Archie’s plants are coming out of the water
• I’ll make sure the air vent isn’t isn’t blowing at all into his cage, the lamp kind of blocks off the air a little bit.
• I mist him at least 3 times a day, not for very long though
• Gets a uvb from 7am to 9:30pm

Looks like the beginning of a shed. The orange at the end of his feces is urate, and being orange indicates he's not drinking enough water. Please study the caresheets here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/ Like said above, you have a lot of improvement to do. The caresheets are great, and you should read them and ask questions if there is anything you don't understand. Make sure to mist him for over two minutes each time, this will stimulate drinking.

No standing water in the enclosure you have to switch that up ASAP it’s a bacteria breeding ground and there’s a possibility that the Cham can fall in and drown
