Not using his tongue

Okay, I get that you think I'm wrong. Can you stop now please? I just won't post on this thread any more. To the OP, I hope it's not as bad as you think and he'll be A-okay after the vet looks him over.

He just isn't interested in the crickets, I keep about 10crickets in the cage with him all the time and change them out every couple days to keep them properly gutloaded, but he won't even get them even if they are right in front of him on the cage.

I have been giving him showers to try to keep him hydrated because I suspected an eye problem with all of the flushing he is doing, and as others have suggested it could be a hydration problem.

Thanks Pssh for your input I understood what you were trying to say, I know that everybody has different opinions on what is the best thing to do, and sometimes things get a little heated, but in the end the Vet is the one I'm going to listen to. Also thanks for the optimism I hope he's OK also, cross your fingers :)

Dont leave crickets in the cage overnight....they can and will chew on him and create sores while he sleeps

It depends on what the problem is with the tongue how quickly he will recover its proper use. I wish I could give you a better answer.
Pssh...there's no reason for you not to post.

panthercham, thats where I got the info on that guy, I notice you're in San Diego too, where do you take your chams?

Thanks everybody that posted anything in this thread, you guys are great about answering really fast in the health clinic forum! :)

I will check up on this thread tomorrow when I get to work, and I hope I can get ahold of that vet to see if he has any cham experience. If anybody has anything else to add(even the ones that feel like they are being yelled at pssh) feel free to post it, any input is greatly appreciated :D

I have been really lucky....touch wood!

I have taken fecals to Dr Greek in LA and he is the best....a really caring vet. Many keepers make the trip to visit him, I am not sure if its too far for you but the trip is worth it. Whatever he tells you is not 2nd guessing, he is very experienced. If I had an emergency I would drive to see him over any local vet.

Give him a call :)

Here's a picture of his cage setup, and a picture of him sleeping:)

By the way he loves the silkworms, when I got home I put one on my finger in front of him and he actually shot his tongue about 5" to try and get it... he missed:(, but at least I know he can still shoot his tongue:rolleyes:

Also the lady I got the silkworms from got some hornworms today so I picked some up from her. They are super tiny right now but she said they grow really fast.

Would either of these be a good staple diet?

They both can be used regularly but you still need to provide crickets and roaches for chitin. Kind of like fiber I guess... Sometimes the poops get a bit watery after feeding silkworms and hornworms.
