I am not sure what that is. It could be poop with some undigested bugs. It looks like a mealworm shell in there, but not positive on that. Are you feeding meal worms? Fill out the ask for help form in the health clinic so we can look over your set up. Pics of your chameleon and set up would be helpful also.

it is definitely some undigested worms... he just had some diarrhea also so I'm worried about dehydration if his stomach continues to worsen. My phone is broken right now so currently I cannot post pictures but I will try to describe things best I can for now.

history: I got him at a petco (I know it isn't the best place, but I'm learning more as I go on lol). He just went through his first shed and has gotten much larger and until now, has been very healthy.

Habitat: I have many vines for climbing and many fake plants to hide in. I gut load my crickets and sprinkle some calcium on them. Maybe twice a week he gets superworms (which is the undigested worm in the poop). He has a little dripper which drips onto a vine and has a golden pothos for free range. I have UVA and UVB bulbs and keep him at around 80 during the day and 70 at night. Once a week I clean his little home with hot water and change the substrate and the reptile carpet (I have the substrate to hold in moisture and the mat is cut to fit right on top of it). Oh and his humidity is always above 50

I usually don't take him out but occasionally I will get him out to free range.

I may take him to my vet tomorrow, I was scared his stomach was impacted but I'm not sure.

If that is poop, then he is not impacted. Undigested food can be a sign of parasites. I would bump the basking temp up to about 85. Substrate is really frowned up as they can injest it intentionally or accidentally. I would remove it. The carpet is not the best idea either, as it will become moldy and harbor bacteria overtime with the moisture and humidity which your chameleon will breathe in. Do you have a terrarium or screen cage?

The most likely cause is that your basking temp isnt high enough. A few months ago I changed out my basking light for my panther and the temps went down from 89 to 84, you wouldn't think it would be a big deal, however if their body temp doesn't get up to where it needs to be they cannot digest their food. My boy stopped eating, stopped pooping and lost all energy. IT took me a couple months to figure out that it was the basking temp.

Depending on the age of your chameleon you need to get the basking temp up to 85 or 90. I keep my panthers at 90 now, after 1 full day it made a world of difference. He started eating and being mischievous again.

Currently I have a terrarium but I'm looking at the screened ones. Should I attempt the temperature before I take him to the vet? And if you don't use substrate or the reptile carpet what do I use?

yes definitely raise the temp up. Nothing on the floor or like Piglett said, paper towels. It might not look as pretty but it is the most sanitary way to go.

Do the strings move at all? Looks like round worm.

Having parasites would support either undigested stools or vomiting and most importantly a lack of an appetite..

Okay I'll change it up. I'll try to raise the temp and if I see no change I'll take him to the vet. Thank you hopefully everything will be okay. I'm on the computer and I found this picture, it may not be helpful but I'll post it until I get my phone working

when you take the little one in. make sure to take your picture of the feces to show the vet also.

Edit: i know that chameleons can appear bloated by retaining air. i also know that puppies will be bloated when full of roundworm also.
