So the top three I think are Panthers, Veiled, and Pygmy Chameleons..
How come there are not much Jackson owners? They were popular before but now I'm seeing lots of ads about other chams then Jacksons... Just a random thought..

A lot of people prefer pretty colors over horns. Ive not gotten Jacksons, or any montanes...However, I am going to soon, I think they are pretty fascinating.

i think the males can display some awsome shades of green and yellow and u get horns too how cool is that!

Montane chameleons are excellent to keep I love them. They do require more attention then one would think. Get good with a Jackson and you could keep something rarer in the future they are very rewarding to keep.

yes they are. Im thinking about getting jacksons now. I had them years ago. I think its a perfect weather here in San Francisco for them. I would leave them out in my skyroom for natural sunlight and fresher air. They can be housed together as well and have live birth. My all time favorite was veiled then panthers and then jacksons...

Now for sure panthers then veiled and jackson.

Perfect I could have not said this any better, ther than start out with CB on the montanes. You will thank your self in the end.

Yes there are 3 types Jacksonii merumontanus mt.meru or dwarf jacksonii.
Jacksonii Jacksonii- My favorite because of the color and are the rarest, I think. Jacksonii Xantholophus are the most common.

Had to say something in a Montane post.

You are correct on both Dean, Jacksonii Jacksonii is the rarest and Xantholophus is the most common.

PantherVeileD: Everything I have read has adviced against housin Jacksonii Xantholophus together. Have you done this personally?

Long time ago I went to some guy's house on craigslist to buy bearded dragons from. I saw 4 jackson's chameleon in a reptarium(100 gallon). I didn't know anything about chameleons back then but I remember him telling me they were live bear and usually can house together. He was explaining to me that other types of chameleon you have to house them seperately or they can stress each other out. I believed he had 1 male and 3-4 females in there. He also told me that you would need a hard wood floor or something hard at the bottom so when the babies drop the bubbles would break.. I wasn't really interested at the time but he was just telling me his stories. As of know I assumed pygmy cham and jackson can be housed together.. Well at least the females and but only one male...

Jacksons have to be my fav of the chams. I own 2.2 merus and 1.3 Jacksonii Xantholophus. I have panthers, veileds and poroto three horned as well, but I just love jacksons. I would love to get some jacksonii jacksonii, but as stated earlier they are very hard to find.

they are very territorial so it is not recommended. I have heard of breeders doing it though, but really they will stress each other out.

Maybe, if by big you mean the size of a room ...
Our female Meru is living the life of a queen in a 6X3X3 enclosure, and is happy as you can imagine. Still, she can see everything that happens around her. If someone else shared her digs, she'd know about it. Don't think she would enjoy an interloper on her turf!
