Not moving hind legs

Not sure what happened to our panther chameleon today. He was only moving with his front legs. Back legs only move when I touch them. His boy parts keep coming out but go right back in completely. I put some K-Y on to keep them moist anyway. We had him in a cage outside today in indirect sunlight. Temp in high 80s. Misting very frequently. He seemed happy. When moving him in he did fall, about 10 inches. Not sure if impacted. I am letting him rest tonight, vet tomorrow if not any better.:(

Panther 5 months old
Gut loaded crickets are his mainstay, superworms a couple times a week
Supplemented with Herpti-vite 2x/week, herpit-cal 2x/week, and Calcium only 2X week.
UV B light in cage

Your supplement schedule is wrong IMO. Which of the supplements have D3?

You need to dust with calcium W/O D3 every feeding, Calcium W/ D3 2x a month and multivitamins 2x a month.

Aside from that, fill out the "How to ask for help" form on the Health Forum.

Hi Victor, I am glad you are seeking advice on your cham. I wonder if the fall might have thrown him out of whack?
I think a Vet might be in order, hopefuuly it is nothing serious.

You can tweek your supps a little, at least you are giving them to him. Most here recommend reptical w/o d3 every feeding, reptical w/d3 2x time and herptivite 2x month.

over/under supplementing can do harm either way. But you are here, looking for help so thats a good start.

Do you have a herp vet in your area?, I think its always a good idea to see one before there s a problem, so they have a starting point with your animal.

Good luck, let us know how it goes

Went to vet today. MBD, suspect broken spine. No chance for recovery due to no response from legs. We had him put down. Thanks for help.

That's awful, sorry for you loss. My panther was climbing the top of the cage while I watched him and he fell a good two feet and hit his head on the side of the cage. I'm freaking out now that I read this. Where did you get yours from?

I am so sorry you lost your chameleon. Next one you can supplement better so hopefully no mbd, but if he had it when you got him then it is difficult. We will help you from day 1 with your next chameleons so you and the cham both do well. Again my condolences on losing him.

It never gets any easier... Im so sorry for your loss... It's easy to forget sometimes how sensitive these guys are and how careful we have to be... You are a very good owner to have sought help so immediately and you did everything that you could...
