not a reptile, but cool anyway!

Well, its about a bird, so they are related.

I live in SE Alaska in a remote coastal bush town. Yesterday at work several of us were startled to realize we had a yellow-throated warbler foraging around our offices. This is a first record of this species for Alaska which is cool enough, but even more amazing considering that this bird is native to the SE USA...like Louisiana! How the heck this little guy ended up here is a true mystery. In fact, as I type I can see it right now picking bugs off the windowsills. We have photos and video of it too. I bet there are some crazy birdwatchers hopping on planes hoping to catch a glimpse of it before it disappears again.

Up here in Canada, we had a pair of Mississippi Kites breeding this summer. At least they are known for being found hundreds of kilometers away from their usual range. A displaced warbler is crazy!
