Nosy Mitsios?

I've read previous post and noticed that there was a Mitsio boom in 2004-05 when they were imported and bred in the US. However, now they seem to be very few or at least not as many as before, I was wondering what has happen to all the different bloodlines of mitsios, as far as I know no one is selling them, yet, in the US even though some individuals still posses them.

i've only been in the hobby for 4 years, and nosy mitsios have been my absolute favorite. i know a forum member was bringing some in from canada and were priced fairly but out of my price range at the moment. truly amazing colors in my opinion. especially the bright yellows and greens some display.

Do you know wha happened to all the ones that were out there? There seems to be near to none now, at least in the US or maybe people are really keeping them to themselves lol. I've seen some ad from past year and 09 that they were still being sold constantly, but I wonder why they have not been reproduced as constant as before.

i've contacted some breeders and they are just enjoying them now. i think they bred them as much as they could but im not really sure. I'd still love to have one, but I cant afford 600 bucks right now.

Some are coming into the U.S. in a few weeks. They will be very limited.

Drew

i know a few in the states that have them and are waiting on eggs but they are few an far between.. thats why i am importing some awesome ones from Chameleon Nation as drew said they are limited an there isnt any around anywhere else ive looked for awhile.as far as all the ones that came in years ago an there offspring? i ask the same of the orig falys.....i have some those,
as far as the price? lets face it these arnt ambilobes or average chameleons, there cb from name lines.

Anyone see or know what happened to the wc group of (supposed) N. Mitsios that came in about a month ago?

I've actually hatched out a clutch of Mitsio's about 4 months ago.I'm counting about 9 males for sure.Unfortunately for U.S. buyers I'm located in Canada.

i talked to screameleons and they said later this year so hopefully i really wanna get my hands on some orana mena's aka falys

@dinamite: I think people stop breeding them because breeders succumbed to the need of people. The blues, reds, and yellows are more sought after colors then green. And why take the time to breed greens if people would rather want the other colors. I mean for a couple hundred dollars would you want a fully blue Cham or plain green? This is totally speculation but I'm pretty such that's the reason. Especially because most people that buy them are first time hobbiest and the other colors seem more appealing.
-As for getting them...I might be able to get some from my importer. They are going to be wild caught most likely but there may be a chance of it being captive breed. I'd have to ask. I can pretty much get any reptile. Drop me a PM if interested.

This is the problem with a forum. People who have NO EXP with a locale start talking out their backsides about things they have no exp with. Oh & I wouldnt ever sell a mitsio to a first time buyer. Too rare and they need to go to someone who eventually wants to breed them.

Totally agree with Jessica. I actually "HAVE" a pair of Nosy Mitsios. Im talking with knowledge & exp actually witnessing the beauty of this locale. Before I purchased mine I was a bit skeptical about their appearance and the costs assoc with obtaining a pr. But after opening the box and seeing my prized mitsio I was breathless. They show soo many different colors other than just "green". And the green that my male has when in repose is absolutely amazing. He's a neon lime green with red barring on his turrets. And the classic white lips outlines in red. Just amazing looking locale.

As for the reasons you dont see more cb offspring. This locale seems to be alot like the Anks. You have to simulate the seasons to get the males to breed. Its a little more complicated than just throwing two panthers together and letting them get it on. I've bred other locales and Im trying to learn the ropes with these guys. I dont think mitsios will ever be as widely seen as the Ambi's, Banjas, or Nosey Be's.

Ok, I understand now. I know that some locales are more challenging than others in order to reproduce, like you mentioned Ankaramys. But from what I've read there used to very several lines of mitsios, but now it is kind of uncommon for people to even mention they have one which seems rare to me, which is probably why I assume that there are not many left but I guess there are.
