Nosy Be Weird Growth

I've just aquired an older Nosy Be. Was told he was several years old. He has a weird growth on the side of his lower lip and his lips seem to be relaxed. Anyone seen anything like this and have any recommendations. Off to the Vet next week for a look.

That looks like a severe case of mouth rot.

And i think something is up with the left eye.

You need a vet to run a culture and provide meds.

he also looks dehydrated.

I noticed the same things. Hydrating today with some Hornworms. Noticed he struggling to swallow. I hand fed them to him, he doesn't appear to strike. left eye closes sometimes. Inside of mouth appears to be fairly dry. Have no knowledge of his previous husbandry. Has beautiful color sometimes. He didn't like being held, turned very dark. I'm not sure he can see, his right eye has movement but the left doesn't move around too much.

Is there a solution for the mouth rot? Can it be treated with meds? Sure would like to get this guy back to good health.

Mouth rot is treatable, but you need a vet to clean the mouth out, and then do a culture to prescribe the right meds.

may want him to look at that eye too.

i cant tell if the reptile is blind, has stuck shed, or maybe an eye infection.

the tongue not shooting could be dehydration, pain from the mouth rot, or lack of proper supplementation.

could be an injury too.

that cham is in really bad shape. i can't believe someone would let their animal get that way. wtf is wrong w/ people. i hope he does well for you but idk if there's anything that is going to give that cham the quality of life it deserves.

Oh wow, that poor dude is in bad shape. Good thing you are going to help him out. I dont understand how people let them get that bad, some people are just heartless. Keep us updated on how the vet visit goes. I hate seeing them like this.

Yeah that looks like very advanced mouth rot/stomatitis or at the very least severe periodontal disease. The last one I saw that looked like from the outside had really bad periodontal disease where the gum tissue had completely separated away from the jaw bones both sides top and bottom. So it was just naked jaw bone exposed with some infected tissue/blood clots between. It can be started by mouth rot then progress to that or never have severe mouth rot to get to that point. You have to deride (scrape the surface) of the exposed bone to keep it clean and try to encourage the dead outer tissue to come off. Sometimes entire chunks of bone die and fall off. And antibiotics to treat or prevent infection to that delicate area. Definitely some veterinary attention is needed here.

Wow! Poor old guy. Such a shame someone would neglect him so badly. Not looking forward to seeing what the inside of his mouth looks like. Good luck!

Vet Diagnosis: Mouth Rot / Stomatitis
Treating with Baytril and applying betadine to the lips. I think he's feeling better. He hissed and tried to bite me:eek::eek:He was quite subdued previously.
