Nosy Be? Ambanja?

I think you have a male, just a bit thin. I have seen quite a bit of thin males that aren't showing a large hemipenal bulge, look at Noelle's Tamatave, he was thin and not showing much color and he ended up outstanding.

As far as Nosy or Ambanja, he has the color of a Nosy and the skull structure of an Ambanja. I say Ambanja just because the breeder claimed it to Ambanja and Todd's (Todnedo) Ambanja is green and produced some nice offspring.

So my consensus is that you have a male ambanja that is just a little thin.

The jury is still out, as he/she still has more development to do, but a hemipenal bulge should be very pronounced right now, and there just isn't a package there ! Going to have to disagree with Cainschams, as while there may be a trace of a hump, its hardly a bread crust when it should be the whole ham sandwich. The current main body coloration is still very weak for a male. It is more than large enough to have obvious male banding on the sides, with more pronounced coloration, and a bulge evident from several feet away. There is no point in needing to be definitively certain at this point, as time will surely tell, but right now, it is fitting all the expectations of a she-beast. Such animals often end up in "what is it" threads, as their true identity is confusing. I traded notes with another very experienced keeper on this critter earlier, who may eventually post, but they were leaning as I am on your animal. Keep us updated as to whether it ends up liking to shop, or watch football. ;) Thanks.

I am here, Jim, just involved with chaos, and then unable to find this post.

To Jim's comment about chameleon she-beasts, or he-shes, I have had he-shes occur in multigenerational hoehnelii and F1 fuelleborni. Sexual attributes were not apparent, and appearance seemed neither male nor female. Behavior was totally asexual around other chameleons.

Coincidentally, I received an email from a friend last night that may follow this same subject. I gave him a 3 year old fourth-generation outstaleti male a few months ago - very obviously a male (if you have seen adult ousties, the differences between sexes are very obvious). From the photos, his hemipenal bulge has all but disappeared, he has been digging frantically in his plant pot, and is exhibiting signs of an egglaying female. My friend is taking the oustaleti to the vet today.

Regarding the baby pardalis in question, I have only bred a few pardalis morphs and only observed a few hundred pardalis babies, so I do not feel qualified to guess the gender on this one (I am poor at determining their gender). I agree with Jim that it's an odd one for its age. I only hope that the little one is *either* male or female, and not somewhere in between.

Pixel just shed today...
Now, he displays brownish pink half coloration (some muted purple dot like the one of female) while maintaining blue coloration around the head.
WTH?!!

I understand your frustration with this situation, your WTH. You may need to wait this out for a bit more time. Post new photos when you can.

yeah. thanks for the advise.
This is actually the first time I saw him develop female coloration.
his white bar now turn more brown. I'll wait a bit more to see what happened to him/her.

an update.
I really suspect that I got mine chameleon younger than 2.5 months old.
Hence, the confusion with the age.
But, he has grown a bit. The pink has disappeared and now he is blue on blue and no other colors apparent.
Still hoping there will be some reds once he hit a year mark like his dad and his grandpa.
He is still 'small' compared to my ambilobe. My ambilobe is 7 months now and his gun is twice the size of this guy.
Till now, no sperm plugs no nothing.

let me know your thoughts.
I am leaning toward male or a slight effeminate male.
age is unknown. But, i am guessing about 9 to 10 months old.
he might be lacking color variations but I love his long nose and big eyes.
and he is more pissy than any chameleons i know.

Here are some current shots of him:

Heya guys,
Since I am not good at guessing locale, I thought I might as well ask for a consensus.

Any helps and tips to differentiate are appreciated. He's supposedly 5 mo. He's very mellow and I have never seen him fired up.
Thanks!

Your images were deleted so I couldn't take a look. I see though, that other people aren't having that problem

Is it my computer?
