I have a new cham for three weeks now and I try to hand feed and he won't either. Don't get discouraged and give him time. It can take a lot longer than three weeks for them to gain your trust. Also, looking at your enclosure, do you have any branches, vines or plants that are higher up in the enclosure?

Did you give him a chance to acclimate to his new home before handling or fussing? If you don't this can sometimes cause mistrust but if you give him a chance to get used to you without being fussed over, he may come around.

I got that ultimate setup kit from screameleons theres 3 branches and a paper towel on the bottom also a mister.

I got my my veiled (Picasso) several weeks ago, and he is still very shy too. Definitely just going to take some time. However, one thing that really helped Picasso, was when I got a little coffee table to set his cage up on. All his main climbing areas are now at about eye level. He is still having a hard time coming to grips with me being around, but he is a lot more comfortable being able to get up high. Especially when I am sitting down on the couch he moves around a lot more freely. Something to try anyway.

Hey, welcome to the forum :). You've come to the best place to get tips on looking after your new guy.....check out this recent blog I found - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/psychobunny/746-taming-chameleon.html

Wow I just read that blog... fantastic advice not much anyone could add after that!

I would also emphasize how important it is to measure your movements, be calm. In all my years with animals time and time again it is always the people who are hyper active who have the hardest time with small animals.

Can you post a pic of the entire enclosure?. I am afraid you do not have your branches close enough to the basking area for your chameleon to warm up.

Sure. The lights are off atm but here it is. It looks very plain but when he gets older i will get a lot more stuff for him

i got the reptirain auto mister but i will move onto a mistking when i get a bigger enclosure. Hes asleep in the very bottom. How many months should i wait to move him to a bigger enclosure? He's 4 months old at the moment

I have a 6 month nosyfaly that still hides from me ..But i keep our interactions positive so in time he will come around, and so will yours. Just kee positive...

Thank you all for the advice! Is him turning white/ash color a stress sign? I show him the silkworm/hornworm/butterworms and he turns that color lol

More vines and foliage will help your little one feel more at home. It would allow your baby to find different temperature zones in the enclosure and this is essential for proper digestion and general health.
Has he eaten any silkies without you holding them? If not, he may not recognize them as a food source yet. Let him eat one free range and after a while he may come looking for them ;). I've already been beaten to the blog link I was going to show so I will just say best of luck with your new friend! Here is a great new tool on the forum. https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/chameleons/ It is a great source of information. And of course... Welcome to the forums!!!
