Hey everyone. My 8.5 month old Nosy Be Female seems to not be pooping. LOL! Of course I know this can be a serious health issue. Typically she will poop once a day, and in the same place usually. I have not seen any poop for about 3 days now. Now she may be going somewhere else that I am just not seeing, sometimes she will poop in here plant pot and I won't see it right away. So is 3 days a concern? Or does anyone think this needs attention ASAP. I have just been feeding her about 5 crickets a day lately as that is about all she seems to want to eat. I do believe she is also becoming gravid. She keeps displaying gravid colors. Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Probably not a real issue unless she seems dehydrated. Is she drinking more or less lately? Have the cage temps changed? Cooler at night? Dryer because of using an AC?

Hmmm, well she's been drinking normally. Cage temps have changed a bit. I switched out her bask bulb down from 75 to 50 watts about 4 days ago LOL, yeah that may be what's going on. With this heat wave her bask temps were topping 94 with the 75W so now I got them down to about 87 bask with the 50W. Actually hotter at night. Can't get the temps down below 78 at night with the heat wave. And yes, it is dryer in my house with the AC. Usually only pushing 30 percent humidity unless I am misting. This is probably why she is having issues with her current shedding. She has been trying to shed for 2 days now and only has gotten her tail done. She is currently working on her feet.

I'm not an expert, but I think you should lower the temps. It should be around 83 for females.

I agree, I keep my lady 80-83 at the most. BUT you can't control the weather! We never have issues with heat waves. Shetlands idea of a heat wave is anytime it goes over 10 degreesC :D

Yeah I have heard so many opinions on temps that it drives me nuts. I have been trying to keep her at mid to high 80's since the day I got her. Still not 100% sure what is going on with her lately but the poop issue has resolved itself. I came home tonight and found the biggest Cham poo I have ever seen!!! :D You would have thought one of my dogs had snuck in the cage and laid one down it was so large. Good Lord! Poor little girl, that couldn't have felt good. I'm really, really relieved to see that she finally went though, so that is a load off my mind for sure.

Hahaha, I'm so glad she pooped! I agree with lowering basking temps to lower 80s.

There is a horrifying amount of conflicting advice, but I'd trust the senior members on here. JannB (site guru) has a good blog for keeping veileds and panthers and her suggestion is also approx 80F.
