so i have had my jackson for about a week now and i just started feeind him wax worms 2 days ago and now he wont eat any crickets at all but he will pick out the worms from the feeder cup. what should i do? should i just keep putting them both in there wasting my money or should i just give him twice as many worms to make up for it?

Wax worms are only for occasion treats. Your cham is now going through a hunger strike and will only eat waxies. He may not eat for a few days to see if you'll break and give him one but keep offering crickets roaches other worms that you feed him. Hell eventually eat but I wouldn't offer a wax worm for atleast a week and I wouldn't offer them there after unless its for being good like coming out of the cage if he doesn't do well with that.. wax works are fattening and is like giving candy to a baby.

Wax worms should only be given as a treat due to there high fat content. I would stop giving them. Have you tried silk worms. They can be given as a main feeder and he might not notice the difference. Lol

here in saint louis my options are very limited in what i can buy for food. i dont trust my self to breed his feeders. so basically if petsmart/petco do not sell it then i cant get it.

Search feeder insects in Google. Mine get shipped to me in state and he's got a wide selection. Look for silk, horn, Phoenix worms they are all favored by chams and pretty healthy for them. Phoenix worms have they're own site you can order from. A happy cham eats a variety of insects and fruits and veggies.

cant really afford to just keep shipping stuff over and over

I order food for my cham maybe every month and a half to two months... second easiest step is to breed insects. Wax worms arnt goin to cut it along with crix if he starts eating them again. Buying or breeding 500 crickets or dubias is a lot cheaper than running to the store every week or so.
