Nighttime question

So the more i read i see that night lighting is not necessary as long as your above 60 or so degrees in the room, my question is i have 2 leopard gecko cages in the room which i run red light during the night, they are directly across the room (about 8 foot) from the cham enclosures, will the red light from those affect the chams at all?

Eh... it may or it may not, you may have to watch your chameleons. Honestly, I don't close the blinds in my chameleon room so that the sun comes in in the morning and the street lights bring in a certain amount of light. And mine sleep like rocks through the night, so it doesn't seem to bother them. I think perhaps a little ambient light isn't a problem as much as a light directly over-head, the same as it would be for us I bet.

in the wild there is natural moonlight......so SOME light isn't detrimental.

"actual" night lights are bad b/c there is already too much ambient light as you have noticed so making a focused light at night is bad. I'd agree with Olimpia that I'd just watch your chams....

how much of that light gets to them? If its just a little bit of ambient light, it will be fine. if its bright in their cage it could be a problem.

try to watch your chams at night and see if they are awake (eyes open) or if they are comfortably sleeping
