Night time heat source?

Hiya - questions questions questions!

I'm totally new to this chameleon lark (you may have seen my previous post!) - I have aquired a chameleon with "complete set up" - its not complete by no stretch of the imagination!

Anyway, I live in england, and it's currently cold! I'm not entirely sure of the temperatures in the viv at the moment (previous owner had no thermometers or anything and I need to pick some up) but I'm fairly confident that it's probably too cold for him at night because my house is freezing.

What kind of night time heat sources are out there that are available? He does have a "night light" - but no actual attachment for it. It's a 25W exo terra night-glo - If I hooked it up to a lamp (he's getting a new and more suitable set up as soon as I can afford it), would this provide him with some degree of warmth, or does he need something else?

Cheers in advance!

Chams see most of the visual light spectrum, so any heat source that emits light may keep him awake or prevent him from resting. Chams require a drop in temp at night. If your room gets below 65 F (sorry, not sure what that is in Celsius) you could warm the cage with a small ceramic heat emitter when it does get too cold (but it will also dry the cage out and might make the cage too warm again). You can wrap the cage in a cloth cover to hold in some of the day's warmth, or even drape a heating pad over part of one side on the coldest nights. If the room temp is above 65 F you don't really need heat at night as long as he can bask well each morning. Don't feed him late in the afternoon...undigested food sitting in the stomach when he is cold isn't great.

Chameleons do not like light for sleeping. They like it dark! How low are your temps, can you find out? You would not need any heat unless it get below 60degrees max or so.

We have a small space heater that we use when it begins to get colder in our house at night. It has a thermostat on it so if it gets below a certain degrees inside, it will turn itself on. I'm sure you could find one either online or at any hardware store.
