Today I went to the LLLReptile Grand Opening Sale in Menifee. Super awesome by the way! Had a great time, and saw the awesome set up!

Anyways, to the point, I got an awesome set up with everything I need. I put my new Nosy Be Panther in his cool new home and everything seems up to par. I could use a few more branches but I will do that tomorrow or the next day. So.... I don't know what to name "him", they told me he is likely a male so I'm hoping for that. He had beautiful colors and seemed pretty energetic at the store. On the car ride home he seemed to use up quite a bit of energy attempting to get out of the tub. When I put the open tub in the cage and walked away he immediately climbed up his ficus and found a place to hang out.

The part that concerns me, which most likely concerns most new cham owners, is that he is hanging out away from his basking spot. He also seems to like the top of the cage which makes me worried that he might try to hang out on the screen directly under the basking light. Also, if he hangs out right underneath his UVB light is that a bad thing or is it okay on their eyes? At the store he was on the top of the cage as well, which makes me think that he is used to hanging out up there. Is this anything to worry about? I haven't seen him eat anything, but from what I understand, that is normal. He is looking pretty dark, and I do know that he must be stressed which is normal, but I would like to know if I should or shouldn't be worried about the fact that he hasn't found the basking spot/heat and the fact that he hasn't eaten.

One positive is that I have already seen him drink a good bit of water. =]

Congrats! If you post a pic of your nosy be people on here can help you better determine its sex if you are unsure. hanging out under the heat lamp could be problematic, but under the UVB light should be fine. Dont get too worried yet about him not staying near the basking spot, hes in a new environment, just give him some time to adjust and to find out where everything is.

He should b fine:)....let him get adjusted...once he feels comfortable he will explore his new home and will find the basking spot...he mite feel secure for now at the top area...and maybe hang over the heat light above the cage instead of leaving ontop of the cage or lower the branches underneath the basking area ....post pics please:cool:

and no the uvb lamp doesnt produce much heat so its ine if he is underneath it, it wont hurt him, he will move out on his own

hes probably just getting used to the changes. My panther did that for about a day than just chilled out on the vines. Pretty sure the uvb light is ok but wait for someone more experienced with it than myself.

Nice to meet you today! You got a killer nosey be. Enjoy the new cham, and PM me if you ever have any questions. :)

Sweet! I thought everything was normal but just had to quadruple check. I am always the broad who never wants kids but I will buy myself a cool new pet that I can worry about instead haha! He has been moving about his cage quiteee a bit, which obviously makes me happy!

I definitely want to give super huge thanks to Scott and Eliot at LLL they were both super fantastic, gave me a better deal than I could have imagined and were both overly helpful!

Thank you Scott! He is pretty awesome huh?

I'll post pictures after he gets settled and isn't so stressed! Then all of you can help me name him ;)

Okay, here are some pictures I took real quick, one was from a little bit earlier. None are great and the last one is a "general set up pic" which I will take a better one for ya guys when he isn't so "irritable"

i was at lll today and got a good deal on a veil with a complete setup as well. my little guy is doing great. already ate some pinheads.

I wish they would open a LLLReptile in Maine...I love them!!! I purchased a male Jackson's from them approx 2 years ago and they shipped him from CA. He's my baby and I've had no problems with him since I got him!!! I would highly recommend them to anyone!!

Awww you guys thought of such cute names! What about Hellum, which is the closest translation to camouflage in Hebrew. I really like Scout and Big Top haha

Congrats on your knew guy!! I was in there on Fri. And wanted to get a female nosey but they looked all to be males to me. I couldn't believe a couple were already are showing hints blue. The only critique I have is the Mell. that was in the tiny cage. Great shop guys...!!

Thank you for the Congratulations! Mine has some blue showing through already. I wonder how old he is. I forgot to ask >_< I figure I'll call Monday, after the Grand Opening Madness has ended haha

I was at the grand opening too and I saw THAT EXACT nosy be, im almost certain it's a male. It flared up when my girlfriend and I put our faces close to it's enclosure, what a sassy guy!

Haha, he is pretty sassy. A little stubborn not wanting to eat and hating on me at the moment. But still kick ass none the less!
