Hey everyone.
I just wanted to let all of you know that Jo used her tongue for the first time since I got her in November. She can't shoot it like a normal cham, but she can stick it out about three inches. I have finally figured out how to get her to eat on her own, but I still (sort of) need to help her. It sounds a little bit unorthodox, but it is the only thing that has worked repeatedly.
At first, I tried the standard bowl feeding. I just put some crickets into a container and put it underneath her. No interest whatsoever.
Next I tried putting her in the bowl with them. Her only mission: get out of the bowl.
Last week I tried just leaving them in the bag they came in, and she actually showed interest in them, but still didn't get any. This week, I held the bag up to her, and she immediately started looking at them and didn't focus on anything else. However, as soon as I moved, it broke the concentration. So I tried again, and didn't move and just let her do her thing. She ended up climbing in the bag with them and ate about 10 without my help.
Incredibly weird, but this has worked for three days in a row now. So I guess this is how I have to feed her now if I want her getting some independence
