Hi All,
I have been caring for a Male veiled named Norman since early January. He was about 6 weeks old when I got him. Over the weekend I had an opportunity to get him a new home.
I hesitated getting this until he got big enough, but I got such a good deal on the cage that I went ahead with it.
ZooMed 24x24x48 Aluminum screen cage
Repltiglo EVB 5.0 linear tube
Basking lamp is regular 67 watt bulb since stores around here stopped carrying 60 watt light bulbs
Bio vines, some baked Sticks that I bought in a bundle
Gardenia and various non silk fake vines and Ivy whos leaves wont come off.
Home made dripper using plastic cup. The Little dripper I bought stops dripping all the time
Feeds on small crickets , fed about 12-15, twice a day (or around 30). Dust once a day with non d3 calcium and once a week with Herptivite. Once a month on calcium with d3. Crickets are fed on Kale and large carrots, with cricket quencher as well.
I also made a milk carton feeder (from a video found on here) for him as instead of going down to the bottom of the cage. He was waiting for the crickets to come back up to him.. and most of the crickets didn't choose to do so. I will revisit free range crickets when he is bigger.
The huge plant is a Gardenia that I repotted that he absolutely loves. HE used to have a small pepperomia in his old home. I am still looking for a ficus and Hibiscus. Hard to find plants in Illinois in winter.
His basking spot stays between 81 and 83, and ambient room temp during day is around 76-77. at night drops down to 69-70 while he sleeps. Lights on 7am lights off at 9:00, on a timer. Humidity overs between 40-50% when not misted. I mist heavily twice a day, more on weekends if I am home, and have a dripper running all day. Dries out in between, except for in the drip pan and a little on the very bottom of enclosure which I wipe up and leftover
Pictures attached so I can be critiqued on any shortcomings. He really seems to like his new home. He is a bit camera shy, and hard to take pictures of but included a few of him this morning, and one from when we got him.
