Hello all. I am new to this forum and forums in general. I am also just starting my research into reptiles of any kind but Im particularly curious about chameleons. They are every interesting. My son has been asking for a pet lizard and I have just started researching different species and breeds. I am not sure if a chameleon is recommended for younger children. He is 7. I dont expect him to be the primary caretaker of any animal at his age but I want something that he can be involved in and reptiles seem to be something that he can learn about and eventually care for on his own. My main question is if a chameleon would make a good first reptile for a boy his age? I have been told to look into bearded dragons or geckos also but The chameleon stands out as the most interesting to me personally. He knows that they arent the type of pet that you can carry around and play with and that it is more of a look and not handle much type pet. Can someone point me in the right direction to start my research. I am more concerned at this point with is this the right pet for someone his age. Thanks in advance and I sincerely apologize if this thread was started in the wrong area or its a repeated topic.
