hello, i just recently got what was labeled a graceful cham, but i think by all the forums that it is senagel cham. so what do you guys and girls think?

i have it in a 18x 18 x 36 diycage with a umbrella plant. and i am using a halogen bulb for basking, misting and dripping 4 or 5 times a day.

oh, before you guys and girls starting jumping me about uvbs i am going to get a bulb, i have been taking him outside in the sun everyother day.

my ?s are i am going to have to move it downstairs in basement because of wife not liking it in her perfect living room, haha my basement now gets down to around 55-63 degrees at night, so i will need some supplemental heating, what is the best way to do it,

my first thougt was to get a zoo med mini dual dome and put a red bulb in one side and uvb compact in other and put the uvb on 12 hour timer.
i would like to keep my lights/heat down to two appliances if possible?
will this option work or any other ideas???. are compacts ok now??

i do have a homedepot clamp light

i cant get him/her to eat anything else but crickets or moths. i purchased from mulberry farms-silkworms,butterworms and, pheonix worms, and also have mealworms but he does not seem interested.

yes moths were wildcaught but he stop eating for a few days and i wanted him/her to get something in them. he is now eating crickets out of a feed cup when i hold him in my hand

i had a jackson cham 14 years ago before internet!!! and kept her in a 10 gallon glass aquarium w/ dowel rods glued together and a drip bowl. how things have changed for the better regarding information!!!!

any help greatly appreaciated!!!

You dont need night lights for your temp, the drop is fine.

as long as it doesnt get below 50 its good.

and if it does, you want a ceramic heat emitter, not something that gives off light as chams need darkness to sleep.

also, what supplements are you using?

just keep offering the other foods, he may get used to them at some point, it can take a while to acclimate them to new foods.

compact uvb bulbs are just fine. there was a problem years ago, but it has since been corrected. I use them and have had no problems.

I also use tubes, but i have a couple big cages so i need more exposure.

thanks for the reply,

can i go with a ceramic heat emitter and a uvb bulb, will that be enough light and heat
ceramic on 24 hours and uvb bulb 12 hours?

supplements im going to start this week, he/she has been on and off food wise, i have a jar of reptocal
also have been gutloading crickets w/flukers orange cubes, apples/ carrots

no. you need a basking bulb for during the day. a regular house bulb is fine.
they have to have that light to really stay the right temp.

for supplements you need a calcium without d3 for every feeding, calcium with d3 twicea month, and a multivitamin for twice a month.

for gutloading- those cubes arent that good.

find sandrachameleons blogs on gutloading. best info outthere.

ok. so will the mini dual dome or the dual light fixture from diycages.com work with a regular household bulb in one side and 5.0 uvb in other on 12 hour day then use my worklight clamp with a ceramic heat emitter on 12hours night(as needed) work????

also i can look around for info, but where can i get just calcium by itself?

it should work, youll just have to try it and see.

measure your temps, and see waht they are like during the day under the basking light, and at night.

several of our site sponsors sell the plain calcium.

I use repashy all in one, so i dont need seperate supplements.
