Newbie question here...

So this may be a dumb question but I feel like I need clarification.

I was told the cage should be sprayed 2-3 times daily in order to keep humidity up.
Are you also spraying your chameleon during that time?
Mine gets exceedingly angry and will open his mouth if he gets damp while spraying nearby leaves...

id not spray your cham directly without some warning... a few spritzes hitting his tail.... a few on body.... a few on head... try to spray from the top of the cage... think rain.... i used to use a pump sprayer for weed killer.... new of course... id spray the celing of the cage, plywood. it would rain on my cham... he was the drinking-est cham i have ever seen... would suck water for as long as it would "rain"... use warm water when spraying... when its sprayed, it cools really really quickly... i used to use almost as hot as i could stand it... but dont spray up close... dont want to spray into eyes with force... make it look like the dew on grass in the early morning...

First off, IMO, no question is dumb. You can learn so much even from seemingly obvious questions here, since so many of the members on the Forums are incredibly knowledgable.
But to answer your question: You should not spray your cham directly, especially if he reacts negatively to it. Not only could this stress him out, but as happy mentioned, can sometimes cause harm, particularly to the eyes. My chameleon quite enjoys his mistings at times, but other times not so much. I think it depends on his mood (and his thirstiness ). When I mist, a I try to direct the mist in an arch so that it goes up then down and is much more gentle. I also spray the leaves so that the mist bounces off. Sometimes my chameleon will get super close to the most bottle when he drinks, and spraying him directly is unavoidable, but he seems to enjoy it, especially if the water is warm. I fill my mister with hot water, so that when it comes out in the mist it is pleasantly warm (not freezing ).
