Hi John and welcome the forums and future chameleon ownership! A couple of things....you don't need any lights at night. They can take temps into the low 50's or so so unless you are going to have it colder than that there is not need for heat or light. Chameleons like the darkness to sleep. What kind of UVB light are you getting? As far as the reptile carpet, as long as you can keep it from molding from it getting wet then it will be ok. Most of us use nothing in the bottom of our enclosures. It really is the most sanitary and clean way to go. When you say tree trunk to hide..I am not sure if your chameleon will use something like this. Does it hang up high, or it is on the floor of the cage? How big is the terrarium going to be and how old will you chameleon be when you get him?. Most of the terrariums are only temporary homes which they will outgrow.

hi carol
my tank is 60x60x90. uvb bulb i got 10% but i was told to drop to 5%. i am hoping to get the cham as a baby or as young as i can. i have got like rubber tiles as well for the bottom instead of carpet so its easy towipe and clean and wont absorb water.
