New veiled owner- questions

I remove the hopping legs off of locusts and crix. I hate crix and couldn't bear it if any escaped! In fact we had an escapee last weekend. I had bought tiny crix for Amy, and didn't realise how high the little gits can jump! Result - one cricket under the washing machine. Found him later crawling up the wall on the other side of the kitchen so I got revenge and smooshed him with my shoe! :D Now I revert to my old ways of putting all food in the fridge, then removing their back legs! It's a bit fiddly on the tinies though, but Amy is worth it!

Also if you cup feed in the same dish you use to dust them. You need to take your finger and wipe the inside of the cup. For some reason the dust residue gives them something to get a foot hold on, allowing them to climb out.

All I use is a 2 inch deep ceramic feeding dish at the bottom of my veild's cage. 1 may escape every few days, but for the most part they stay put.

Yes, make sure you wipe out the cup each time before feeding.
