I recently lost my male, Camou, veiled chameleon and we put her in the same enclosure. Could this be part of the problem?

I dont think its about the enclosure,,,perhaps letting her get used to her new home for a couple of weeks would be beneficial,,,,ive heard they can take a couple days to eat after being moved to a new home!!! How are you feeding her?? Perhaps try cup feeding her,,,oh and you might want to get some calcium with d3 and a multivitamin,,,,and only dust with these twice a month each,,,i switch my supplements every Sunday just to keep track of what I did last week!!!
Watch for her poops,,,,and be aware of the colours,,,,,white uriate is good!!!

Thanks Slinko9! I have tried cup feeding her. She just looks at me me and at the crickets. She doesn't even try to eat. We tried putting them in front of her and she just backs away. Maybe I'll just wait a day or two and then try again. I'm just aftaid she'll starve or get dehydrated.

Sounds like shes settling in, it happens. give her some time, also dont feed her and then stand there and watch her, she may not eat infront of you.

and the cage is fine, im sure its not going to cause any issues.

ok. thanks! I worry about her color, too! Why does she stay black? I know it could be one of three reasons. She' either cold, stressed or sick right?

shes probably stressed because you are spying on her! ;)
jk jk
if you are sure of your basking temp, (you can check with a digitial thermometer, not a petco/zoomed velcro thermometer thing) then shes just settling in to her new space.

it can take up to a few weeks for them to relax.

as long as you offer food, water, lights, dark, and plenty of foliage to hide in, she will settle down.

yup,,,just leave the crickets in the cup,,,jammed between a couple of branches and leave,,,,my little guy is just turning 10 weeks old,,,,and hes eatting about 20 to 30 1/4 crickets a day,,,,I feed him a cup full twice a day,,,,btw,,,,what size are the crickets you are feeding her??? Good rule of thumb is feeders should be approxiamately the same size as the space between their eyes!!!!

As mentioned before. Maybe she needs privacy to eat. Just leave them in the cup and check several hours later. Do make sure you remove any that aren't eaten though. They bite.

Hello, fellow Louisianian! Who Dat?! :) I'm a new owner of a baby Veiled chameleon. He wouldn't eat or drink the for the first few days after his arrival. He only ate a cricket or so a day and I didn't witness him drinking. I was FREAKING OUT! I did months of research before getting him (this forum was extremely helpful). I had all of the essentials. I did everything according to the care sheets that I've read. I finally decided to join the forum instead of snooping around. :p Well, I filled out the health form, posted it and asked for help. Everyone reviewed the form and told me that I was on point with everything and my little buddy just needed some time to get acquainted with his new environment. I was told that he'd probably start eating and drinking more regularly after that. I also gave him some more privacy. He probably got a little freaked out by me eyeballing him, waiting for him to eat and drink. I wouldn't want to eat while someone is eyeballing me, either. LOL! I'd put his feeders in the cup, place it in his cage and leave the room. I'd come back a couple hours later and all of the feeders would be gone! Then I noticed him drinking water droplets from leaves! I was so relieved! Just calm down and let your cham get used to it's new environment...oh, and give it a little space. I know that you're worried and want to keep an eye on it, but fight the urge to monitor it so closely. You may be freaking it out a bit.

Good suggestions everyone give em time and if he don't start eating after about a week try and get baby silks and or horns some type of baby soft bodied worm he might like that
