New to the world of Chameleons - Help please

I just recently got my first veiled chameleon, he's only about 4/5 inches - about 2 months old. I've only had him for about a week now, and everything seemed to be going normal but as of two days ago he has been sleeping when i come home from school. The first day i had just wondered if he was not used to my schedule, like with lights and noise etc. - because i get up fairly early for school but he's been sleeping during the day for the past three days now.

He's also been sleeping on the wall of the door that opens the cage, away from the light and branches.

His current cage/light setup is:

~UVB 5.0 Light
~Blue Daytime Light
~Red Nightime Light
~Basking light
~Reptibreeze 16"x16"x30" cage

I've been using the red light only at night, and the others during the day because i live in CT so it's pretty cold here right now - my room only gets to around 70 degrees w the heat on.

Please help

So i shouldn't leave any light on at night for him, or do you recommend the lightless infrared for the 12 hours of dark?
First the red night light is no good they need 12 hours dark 12 hours light I'm sure others will chime in

70 degrees is fine if he can bask during the day at the correct temperature. Get rid of the red light. Chameleons need total dark at night. They have a special scale called the parietal eye that can see light, even red light. It will disrupt their sleep.

Give him a few days if dark at night and see if he goes back to not sleeping during the day.

Your chameleon needs total darkness to sleep. Even if a tv is on they will have a hard time. They also need a drop in temp at night so unless it's low 50's at night he will be just fine.

I'm not a vield guy I own a Panther but I no for him as long as it doesn't drop bellow 60 it's fine they won't get a sleep with the red light you'll see many post were the red heat light is a no no they need full dark I'm not sure if that's causing your problem is he drinking and eating do u have a mister going
