Hello, everyone! :)

I just joined the forums yesterday and thought I should introduce myself. My name is Joe and I am a fairly new reptile keeper. I currently only own a precious male Leopard Gecko named Piglet who is such an amazing little guy.

For nearly 10 years now I've been very fascinated with chameleons. I've never owned one but thought that I would start learning the proper husbandry and care techniques so that in a year or two I could pick up my very first cham. As you know, research is very important so I thought I'd come to a dedicated cham forum to learn how to best care for a chameleon.

If you have any valuable resources, tips, or other beneficial places to learn about chameleons prior to my purchase and care for one please let me know; I want to know as much as possible before owning one of these wonderful creatures.

Welcome to the Chameleon Forums, Joe! :) You have no idea how refreshing it it to see someone doing their research BEFORE purchasing a chameleon. The Forums is an excellent gold mine of cham info! Check out the care resources provided on this site to get you started. What kind of chameleon are you planning on getting?

Thank you!

From the minimal research I've done, a Jackson's Chameleon looks like the best option for me based off of my climate, size, etc.

HOWEVER, there is still lots that I need to learn before making this decision. I'm concerned about purchasing a female veiled/Panther due to the extensive health problems that can come about from egg laying without fertilization.

Again, thank you for welcoming me and I look forward to checking out the husbandry forums to learn more. If you have any additional information for me please let me know. Thanks.

Welcome! There is a ton of information to be had here! I spent about 3 weeks of daily sifting through all the info and learning all about husbandry and the different breeds before I made my purchase. I had spent about 2-3 months piecing everything together for his arrival, and in 3 weeks I learned so much and even changed certain things I had purchased because of it. Welcome to the Chameleon World!
