New to the forum and chameleons.

Hey man, that sucks about the chameleon. But dont give up, you've already started. Use the time to keep learning on how to care for them and soon enough you'll have one of your own. I do suggest though you get a healthy one before attempting to rescue one. you can be successful, but having to deal with rehabilitating a sick chameleon can be stressful even for experienced keepers. If I may suggest, try getting some experience with a baby and raise it to adult so you get the feeling and hang of things. If you are able to get a healthy chameleon from someone who cannot take care of them, do that too. It is very sad when you do all you can to rehabilitate a chameleon but it ends up dying because he was too far gone to begin with. This can be, as you are probably feeling right now, very discouraging.

As I said, use the time now to lean all you can and its good that you are part of this community, it shows initiative on your part to learn about the animal you want to care for.

Thanks for all the support guys and gals. Didnt even have the chameleon yet so it wasnt as heart breaking. Still it sucks that it had to die because of some ones negligence. I know it would have been tuff and stressful to rehabilitate this gal but it was worth a try to me. Me and my girl friend are pretty die hard animal lovers. Her more furry than scaled and me the vice-a-verso. But I will take this time to do more research about them so that when I do end up with one (which will be one day for sure now that I have a cage). I will be prepared.

Sorry to hear about the Cham dying, but at least when you've checked up you can get one that's really healthy for your first one. You can get a little baby and watch it grow ridiculously fast!

Yeah. Im looking forward to it. I know my girlfriend and I got are bearded dragon when he was a baby. I swear to you I would feed him in the morning and before I went to work and when I would get home he looked bigger. You could literally see visible growth in a 24 hour period. It was surprising. I guess its just in there nature. In the wild it would be like get big and strong quick or die.
