New to Chams and the Forum!

Hello all! I am Adriana, also known as Darcy, also known as Argentra. I frequent BP.net, as I own 15 snakes, and recently decided that I and my BF are finally ready to try owning a chameleon!

I've always loved chams, but was never confident enough of my herp keeping skills to own one. Now, after years of owning different lizards (including a leo gecko that lived over 12 years with me) and snakes, I am nervously preparing to take the plunge into cham owning. :D

So, give me all your expert advice and prepare to put up with my endless 'Is this alright?' questions...at least for a while. ;)

Hey,

You'll do well if you spend some time on here before your first chameleon purchase.

I was on here a month or two before I got my guy, just absorbing info and things worked out.

A word of advise. Ask as many questions here as you can/need to. Not at a pet store.

Oh and welcome;):)

Welcome!

You have come to the right place to find out everything you need to know. Don't ever feel afraid or silly to ask a question if you are unsure or dont know the answer....we have all been there as beginners & you need to start somewhere :D

Do you know what kind of cham you want?

Thanks for the welcome. :)

We're looking to get a 3-5 month old male Veiled cham. I would want something older/bigger...but I only have about $100 total to spend on the cham himself.

I will NOT be getting him until everything is fully set up and running well. I learned that lesson with my first ball python, and will never get a new animal of any kind unless the enclosure is already ready.
And I know FULL well not to ask things at pet stores...as I used to work at Pet(not so)sMart. I was one of the only people who actually knew about proper animal care and they seemed to not like that. I left before long because I couldn't stand the archaic policies and total disregard for animals and customers.

Anyway... so, anyone have any recommendations of where one in Colorado might find a nice Veiled male? :)

I would see if Juli has anything left.
No one I know of in CO has any that age for sale right now.
