I've been doing a crazy amount of research and watching videos, and I've decided im going to get my first chameleon this friday!
From everything I've gathered online I've decided to get a male Veiled Chameleon. I'm definitely going to stay away from petco and petsmart, (I visited petsmart and was shocked at how small and poorly setup the enclosure was) but my local "mom and pop" pet stores are all out and don't know when they will be getting more.

My question is, is buying a cham online a good alternative and have any of you ever had a bad experience with getting your reptile shipped?

Thank you in advance for your help, and I'm glad there is a place like this for smart and responsible chameleon owners! :D:D:D

Welcome and congrats on your future new friend! I would check the classifieds on this forum. There are some male veileds for sale from great breeders (I just got one myself). I have never had a problem getting one shipped, you just have to make sure you are home for the delivery. I also think that when you get a cham from a small breeder who is more hands-on you have a better chance of getting one who is used to people and may be a friendlier. Post pics when you get him!

One thing to keep in mind as its getting cold, you will want to pick your chameleon up from a fedex hub. Its much safer than having it delivered to your house. Hold for pickup saves time on the delivery truck that would expose the package to colder temps. Not too bad in Texas yet but I still do that most of the time since the package is ready to be picked up before 9am in most cases.

Lancecham has an add "Veilds by Mango" in the classifieds.

He is in California, very established, great chams, you can't go wrong…:)

Thanks everyone! I'll be be sure to post pics as soon as I get him. There is one more reptile shop nearby that im going to check out before I get one online. I live in an apartment so it would be alot harder for me to get it here. The hub might be the best answer.
