So I recently got my first chameleon ,a female that I am not sure exactly her age. This isn't my first reptile ,although it is my first chameleon. Here's a picture of her and her setup http://imgur.com/a/gJ9MP Shes in a medium reptibrezee for the time being, although soon she'll get a large or xl.I have a 5.0 compact (I know people don't like these but it's all I could find for the time being) and a 100 watt daylight blue bulb.I tried a 60 watt bulb but the temperature at the highest vine was only 77,so i changed to a 100 watt and still only get 85.Is this okay ?Also how do I tell how old she is ,and when she would be laying eggs ?I made a lay box and covered up her cage but she hasn't touched it.Whenever i enter the room she guns it for the lower part of the cage so for now I have been leaving her alone as much as I can. She's eating gut loaded crickets with all the correct supplements (again, not my first rodeo in that regard). She also has a dripper and gets occasional misting.Any specific info about the egg laying, and general criticism of my setup would be appreciated, thanks!

I would say to put a laying bin in now just to be safe. 85 degrees is perfect for a female. When she is close to laying she will become restless roaming the cage, eat less and drink more. How far away is the basking branch from the uvb bulb? I would recommend adding some more vines and folliage and even a live plant. Also I would try to mist her more to make sure she is hydrated and to help the humidity

Yep just keep adding him places to hide and climb and add some live plants to hold mosture you can buy pothos pretty cheap

I made a lay box with about 6 inches of sand that's wet enough to hold a tunnel ,is this okay?Is she old enough for eggs yet?As for te plants I've been looking for some live plants for a while now,for the time being I've added more plastic plants.

Jennb , is a fantastic person to hit up for questions . She sent me a fantastic link just a few days ago to set up my little girls bin . Yes she can lay eggs as early as 6 month . I believe depths need to be at lest 8 inch to bottom . Often they will tunnel to bottom so make sure there's something like branches so if it did collapse she could get out .
