Howdy All,

Sorry for the short notice but we've had to make a meeting location change. Steve Sims has been able accommodate us in a meeting room at his workplace in downtown Los Angeles. This temporary meeting location will be closer for some and farther for others. (We'll be taking inputs for a new location :).)

LA Gift Mart
1933 S. Broadway
9th Floor Suite 941
Los Angeles, CA 90007

Near the southeast quadrant of where 110 fwy and the 10 fwy cross.

Link no good? Go to Google maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl) and cut/paste this into the search window: 1933+S+Broadway,+Los+Angeles

There is free parking in a lot next the building during the hours that we will be there. You'll see 3 very tall pine trees deep in the parking on the side of the building where the free after-hours parking is located.

The "South Bay Chameleon Keepers" (SBCK) meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Late arrivals are fine. Meetings are pretty much free-flowing with all chameleon topics open for discussion. "Show and Tell" discussions are common. We're experimenting with group bulk-buys (silkworms etc.) at our meetings. Some members may be bringing dubias, silkworms, hornworms and crickets to sell but that's not guaranteed. Some of us have brought our chameleon books and magazines along with various items to spark discussions. Let us know if you are looking for these feeders (or anything else) and we'll try to confirm availability (pre-ordering) before the meeting.

Don't hesitate to RSVP with an email to: [email protected] if you think you might be coming. Didn't RSVP? Come anyway.

On your way and got lost? For this meeting, call Dave Weldon on his cell phone# 310-600-4793.

Our group ranges from long-time breeders to novice keepers. Lately, there have been 8-12 members attending. There's usually a new member at every meeting.

Sorry, Dave Weldon probably won't be bringing my microscope to this new location for now.

No guarantees but there are usually plenty of snacks and drinks brought in by some of the attendees.

See You There,

SBCK

This location is a little more doable for us northerners:)

p.s. If your bringing in something odd like a lizard or feeders, just say " Oh, I'm just delivering some samples";) It got me through security with a cricket carrier:D

is anyone who wants to go welcome????
Howdy,

Anyone who has an interest in chameleons is welcome to attend and if you have to drag someone along who isn't interested, they can come too :)!

Just to clarify; there are no fees to attend.

If anyone who plans on attending is looking for any particular used equipment for sale etc., let us know and someone might bring it with them. Same goes for feeders. The purchase of chameleons at the meeting can be pre-arranged too. Remember, we have several breeders in the group who have chameleons for sale from time-to-time :).

I plan to attend this meeting. I will bring one of my adoption animals who is looking for a permanent home.

ID: CALY-M3
Date Received: May 15, 2006
Age When Received: Adult, approximately 2 years old.

This gorgeous male was dropped off at PetCo in Bakersfield. He's a good eater and his grip is very strong. His casque is not perfectly straight. He suffered from MBD in his early life but has rehabilitated completely. He has a couple of knobby areas on his legs where there may have been some damage from MBD. But he is not exhibiting any problems. He should go to a home where natural, unfiltered sunshine will be provided frequently, not occasionally. He loves supers, cockroaches, silkworms and medium/large crickets.

The adoption fee for any chameleon ChamEO offers is $25 and there is a waiver to sign. Usually we require that a potential adopter completes an application, but I will bypass that process as long as others attending the SBCK meeting can serve as a character reference. If you are considering taking this little gem home, PLEASE email me a photo of his new enclosure. He has been living in the California sunshine since he arrived here with very few days indoors. I would hope that he could get exposure to natural sunlight on a regular basis to keep his bones and overall condition healthy.

I will have some small silkworms. half a dozen hornworm pods, plus bringing in one with the BLUE hornworms for everybody to see. Get your cricket/supers/mealworms/waxworm orders in by tonight, for pick up tomorrow night at meeting. Dubias for Andrew. And of course gutload. If anybody needs small Dubias let me know, and I'll bring them in as well. See you there!

I'm thinking everybody might have to sign in with security. But we might just have the meeting in the grand new lobby. Might make it easier to catch new arrival entering the building. Cut down on lost Chameleon keppers wandering the halls. ;)

I am a comin as well (unless if something major comes up).

I am going to have about 2-3 pods of extra large hornworms.
My adult veiled is no longer interested in them for now.:(

Some small amount of Large silkies.

the feeder on the last meeting show and tell were a hit! ;)
My cham zap them after realizing that they are indeed something he can eat.
Thanks, Steve:D

I am going to try my best to make it as well. I have three cups of Horn worms that are about to start digging. So I will probably bring in those as giveaways for those with Chams that will eat them that large. I have about 25 or so really large ones. I don't need bat sized moths flying around my Condo. :D

Ryan, if you have the moth, I am interested :D
My cham will eat them at sight.
So far, I have manage to turn them to cocoon... but the hatch rate into a moth is extremely thin. of all, I only manage to hatch 3.
Lol, hornworm party, i guess.
I hope somebody will take them. It'll be funny if every one of us is bringing in hornworms :D:D:D

No moths yet they are just the big worms getting ready to start digging in.

I didn't know they were so difficult to get hatched. Interesting.

it could be just me doing things wrong :D
I prefer silkies. They are much easier to care for during the cocoon phase.

I would like to take some hornworms home. I have some big chameleons that are always interested in something new.

Does anyone want small house flies? I can bring some in a 32 oz delicup with a screened lid. I buy mine on the internet from Spiderpharm in Arizona. Great for babies of various species, smaller chameleons. Also very good for getting reluctant eaters excited about food.

yes!!! I want them:D yayyyy!!!

I could use some flies I have a baby panther that I am picking up on Friday from the Kammers. I plan on piking up a cup from them at the show but they won't be hatched.

I have three cup full of huge Goliath Horn Worms. So plenty to go around. The cups are out off food or almost are so you may have to grab a pepper for them to munch on.

Flies

Next time, I will order a lot more but I will be counting on you guys to take some off my hands. I didn't know so many of you would want them.

Tomorrow! :)
I need the flies since my veiled is starting his picky period these days. Don't worry! I'll take the excess off your hands :p
I really need a new feeder.

Darn! i can't go, guys.
Something extremely important comes up.. I really want to go and get the flies.:(:(:(:(

My veiled is acting up weird since the move to a new place.
Been dark most of the time while closing his left eye.
Still eating well.

But, I will take him to the vet now or tomorrow.

Meeting will be in my showroom on the 9th floor. There's a another group ( CABA ) using the lobby. So just turn to the left and look for a security guard for directions.
