The Varanus monitors are the best in my opinion but not widely kept due to their size (except for crazy people like me). The komodo, croc monotor and my Anubis (argus monitor) come from this group and are often hunted in the wild for their meat. That coupled with deforrestation and illegal trafficking/trade, it's a wonder any of them have survived in the wild at all. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before someone starts poaching these for the trade as well.
